Foot Washing 5:30 p.m. (New Time) ~ Fellowship Hall

For centuries Christians have acted out a foot-washing ritual as a way to show caring and humility in our relationships with one another, loving the way that Jesus loves. Foot-washing is a powerful ritual and a way to include all ages in the Holy Week story and is engaging for the oldest and youngest members of our community and everyone in between.

Maundy Thursday Service 7:00 p.m. ~ Sanctuary

A stunning centerpiece of our Holy Week observations, this Tenebrae-inspired service (“service of shadows”), comprised of music, readings, prayers, and communion, will feature music from the FCC Festival Choir, organist Barbara Baird, and guest soloists Amalia Osuga and Mahsheed Massarat, two talented vocalists from the University of Oregon. The service will also feature both FCC and guest instrumentalists, officiated by the Reverend Melanie Oommen.

She is a doctoral student in vocal performance at the UO, and has been a featured soloist in such large works as Mozart’s Requiem, Bach’s Mass in B Minor, Orff’s Carmina Burana, and Faure’s Requiem. Amalia recently appeared as a soloist in the Steffani Stabat Mater as part of the Oregon Bach Festival with the UO Chamber Choir under the direction of OBF Conductor Matthew Halls. Photo of vocalist Mahsheed Massarat
