Special Gifts to Haiti
Thank you, thank you, thank you . . .
As of January 26th, you have donated $16,157 to relief for Haiti!
Through our United Church of Christ, funds are already being rushed to our Haitian partners in ministry. The UCC and our aid partner, Church World Service, already have personnel on the ground in Haiti. Money will be sent from our church reserves Jan.18th. Now we will begin receiving special gifts, which we will send on to the Wider Church Ministries of the UCC tomorrow and every day after as gifts are received. Giving through the church guarantees that 100% of our gifts go to direct aid. We don’t need to fly anyone in. We have personnel there who know and have history with existing local leadership. And these people will still be there long after other emergency personnel have moved on to the next disaster. Make checks out to FCC – Haitian Earthquake. Even as we pray for the people of Haiti.
Additional information available on our UCC website.
In December, through The Christmas Fund and Neighbors in Need we remember those of our retired ministers and their spouses who devoted their lives to poor congregations with little financial return; The Christmas Fund supplements their pensions and partially subsidizes their medical plans. Neighbors in Need helps people on the margins of American society to help themselves.
On Palm Sunday, our congregation participates in the One Great Hour of Sharing special offering where we come together to help provide disaster relief, development assistance, safe refuge, and health and social service to our sisters and brothers around the world who are struggling both to survive and improve their lives.
