Lane Interfaith Alliance (LIA) coordinates
the Season for Nonviolence
Beginning January 31st at 6 p.m., LIA will start the Season for Nonviolence with an opening ceremony at Grace Chapel of First Christian Church (1166 Oak). This gathering will feature Mayor Kitty Piercy and Commissioner Peter Sorenson, spiritual sharing from Veena Howard and Harinder Kaur Khalsa, with a keynote address by Dr. Steve Shankman, UNESCO chair.
An international event, the Season for Nonviolence uses the 64 days between the memorial anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. to foster an awareness of nonviolent principles and practices as a powerful way to heal, transform, and empower our lives and communities. A variety of events, activities and gatherings will be offered during the 64 days, until April 4th. Information is available on the web at www.laneinterfaithalliance.org.
