Volunteer Opportunities
Following are a couple of opportunities to represent FCC:

All-Church Camp Weekend, August 20-22
Space still available 7-28-10
Wasn’t S’more Sunday great?  Wouldn’t it be nice to have s’more of them?  You can have this by attending our All-Church Camp Weekend at Camp Adams (our UCC conference camp).  Registration is going on now.  Pick up an All-Church Camp brochure on any of the lobby tables or download the forms below.  All-Church Camp is open to all ages, friends, and family members.  With Camp Adams located just outside of Molalla (east of Woodburn), it is an easy, relaxing weekend getaway to spend some time in nature getting to know members of our congregation better.  All meals as well as activities are provided.  During the weekend you will experience friendship, crafts, nature walks/hikes, campfires, worship, family-style meals, and all camp has to offer.  Check out the easel in the Fellowship Hall to see who else is planning to attend, and while you’re there, sign yourself up too!  Registration forms and a deposit are due in the church office by July 1.  Don’t delay; get your forms in today!!

Paperless Fellowship Hour:
The Greening of FCC

New reusable cups have been purchased for the kitchen, and now there are plenty to serve all during fellowship hour and for other events.  A team of dedicated members of the Care for Creation working group have each taken one Sunday a month to wash the cups after fellowship hour.  Would you like to help support this important ministry of stewardship?  Please stop by the kitchen on any Sunday and just help out (this is a great service activity for families to share), or you can sign up to have a regular time each month in the kitchen or as a substitute when there is a need for one more person.  With our wonderful dishwashers, the task is simple, but it does require an ongoing commitment.  Contact Sara Burant (541-345-9042) if you would like more information.

Fellowship Hour Hosts Needed
Sign up today to help host (make coffee/tea/etc.) an upcoming Sunday fellowship hour.  All supplies and instructions are available for your use.  Serve your church family in this way by signing up on the easel in fellowship hall today.

Beneficio Whole Bean Coffee is IN!
Beneficio coffee is sold for $10 per bag during coffee hour on the first Sunday of each month. Delicious, as well as organic and better-than-fair trade, which means that coffee is purchased directly from farmers in Costa Rica at a better-than-fair-trade price.   Twenty percent of the net proceeds of the coffee is returned to the communities in Costa Rica who grow, pick, and process the coffee.  The funds support the priorities identified by those communities to improve education and quality of life for all.  To learn more about Beneficio, Coffee, go to http://www.itsmorethanfairtrade.com.

We sell Beneficio Coffee because it makes sense, and  Two dollars of every bag supports the Turtle Project on Tasajera Island, an ongoing environmental program run by our partner community on the island of Tasajera in El Salvador.  Rather than selling sea turtle eggs for food, local residents are paid to preserve and protect the eggs so that this rare species of sea turtle will survive and thrive.  Currently supported by a one-year grant from USAID, our contributions to the Turtle Project through our Beneficio Coffee sales will enable this important program to continue, as well as support the fishing peoples of Tasajera to build on the Turtle Project and explore new opportunities of eco-tourism as they look to the future for their community.

How can you get involved?

We always need help! At this point, we are trying our hardest to continue the turtle project by selling coffee during our fellowship hour. If you are interested in helping with coffee sales, or have questions, please contact our group at elsalvador@fcceugene.org.

Our spirits are nurtured in giving relationships. These activities will help you find your place within the larger community and provide opportunities to give.
