On the Move with Facilities…

Scott trimming the bushes around the churchOne of the active committees in our church is the Facilities Committee. In charge of maintaining the church building and grounds, Facilities also works toward making upgrades to old systems and implementing new technology to help our church facility run efficiently and environmentally safe. Below are some of the things our Facilities Committee has been up to this Spring.

Let there be light:

  • Facilities has been very deliberate in their continued efforts to improve interior and exterior lighting of the building:
  • In the west parking lot, old incandescent lighting has been replaced with LEDs and 2 new fixtures with LED lights have been installed on either side of the cross, greatly improving visibility on the stairs to the choir loft.
  • A new LED fixture has been added to the east exterior wall where there has been vandalism and break-ins to the shed and property.
  • The exterior light fixtures over the office entrance and over the entry sign have been replaced with LED lighting. We also have a new doorbell with an intercom for when the door is locked but a staff person is in the building.
  • The exterior light fixture on the Chapel wall which illuminates the north parking area has been replaced with an LED fixture as well.  Incandescent lighting inside the Chapel has been replaced with LED bulbs.
  • Fluorescent lights in the pre-school bathrooms have all been replaced with LED bulbs.
  • The Church has received a $175 rebate for some of the LED replacements that have been made. Ca’ching!

New Phones:

The church’s 20+ year old phone system has been updated throughout the church, including the pre-school, and all phones replaced. Now, ALL staff has voicemail and can even listen to your message off-site!

Fire and Security:

The church has switched to a different Fire and Security monitoring company.  The new system includes maintenance of an updated fire panel and monitoring system and will save the Church $1000.00 per year. Ca’ching!

Updated Hearing Assist Devices Coming this summer:

Speakers with cordless mics will be installed in both the Wheeler Room and the Chapel.

New, updated hearing assisted devices will be available for use in the Sanctuary, the Wheeler Room and the Chapel!

Facilities Committee: Scott Wiggins (Director of Facilities), Jim Weston (Chair), John Hudspeth (Board Representative), Deven Holmgren, Greg Howard, Jim Brown, Greg Flint, Joanne Flaherty, Charlie Schull, John Luhman.
