Music Ministries Update

image of music notesFESTIVAL CHOIR is busily working on special music for Advent, and it’s going to be some great stuff! At the center of our presentations will be the Pergolesi Magnificat, which will be presented by choirs and chamber orchestra in the worship service on December 17. This upbeat, Baroque era work (sung in Latin) sets the text of the Virgin Mary’s song or canticle (“My soul magnifies the Lord!”), taken from the Gospel of Luke. Mary is telling her cousin Elizabeth of her delight and gratitude at the impending births of their two children.

Additional special music will be sung, rung, and played throughout Advent. Singers, it’s not too late to get involved with Festival Choir – we rehearse from 7:00 – 7:45 p.m. on Wednesdays and 11:00 – 11:45 a.m., both in the sanctuary. Bell choir would also love to welcome any interested new ringers: they rehearse at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesdays in the sanctuary balcony.

We in the music ministries look forward to presenting some uplifting new music during November, particularly on Consecration Sunday, November 12 and for Thanksgiving Sunday, November 26.

THIRD SUNDAY CHOIR welcomes any interested singers to join us on Sunday, November 19 at 9:00 a.m. in the sanctuary to learn a beautiful new arrangement of “For the Fruit of All Creation,” which we will sing in the morning’s 10:00 a.m. worship service.
