FOOD for Lane County 25th Anniversary
As part of its 25th anniversary celebration, FOOD for Lane County recently recognized and thanked First Congregational Church for being one of 11 organizations (including three other churches) that have provided long-term volunteer support for its programs to eliminate hunger in our community.

For many years, our church has provided volunteers on the 3rd Monday evening of each month to help re-package food that has been donated to FFLC by various organizations and businesses in the community.  Through our efforts, food that would ordinarily be thrown away is “rescued” and made available to families in our community who struggle to put food on the table.  In addition, we also provide volunteers to help prepare and serve food at FFLC’s Dining Room in downtown Eugene on the 1st Monday of the month.

Although we have many wonderful, long-time volunteers from our church who help with these efforts, we are always looking for more people to help.  These are really wonderful opportunities for families to volunteer together, especially in the summer when schedules are not so demanding.  It’s also a good way for our new members to get to know others in our church community.  For more information on helping with the food rescue operations, call Mary Mowday (541-485-6509).  For information on the Dining Room, call Sharon Newton (541-342-8275).

Food Rescue (Food for Lane County) – Volunteers work the 3rd Monday of each month to repackage food for distribution at Food for Lane County . Each Sunday's coin offering in the plate is sent to Food for Lane County . Sign up after worship if you would like to help, or call Mary Mowday (541-485-6509). This is a great place for families to serve together!

Family Dinner Program - Volunteers are needed to assist in preparing and serving meals for Food for Lane County 's Family Dinner Program. FCC's night is the first Monday of every month. Contact: Sharon Newton (541-342-8275) if interested in volunteering (for ages 16 and older).
