Our governance is "congregational," which means that the members own the church and make all major decisions about money, mission, and staffing.
In congregational meetings budgets are determined, priorities are discussed, and leadership is elected. The congregation of members elects a nine-person Church Board to provide ongoing leadership, planning, program evaluation, and fiscal oversight. Board members serve three-year terms and can be nominated by any member. There is no "nominating committee." Instead, the church relies on the prayerful discernment of the congregation to call forth Board Members. The Board meets on the 2nd Tuesday of the month from 5-7 p.m. and provides spiritual and missional leadership on behalf of the congregation. Potential board members must have had previous church committee, task force, or other leadership experience, and have the endorsement of three other First Congregational UCC members. If you are interested, please contact Pastor Greg for a nomination form. |

Congregational Meeting - January 29, 2012 Moderator’s Report Welcome all to our Congregational Meeting. I’m glad to see you here as we have a big agenda today. First, however, I ask Board members to stand so you can acknowledge them. Thank you for your service. Now I’d like to highlight things we have accomplished this past 6 months. Our latest Membership Class largest of recent history. Janet continues to grow that program providing education, support and mentorship. One change we noticed - people are coming into class with lap-tops for their note taking. Some are joining committees and immediately having an impact on our church – we are changed by them – by you. Mission:1 was a great UCC project for 11/1/11 and 11/11/11. Guided by scripture of John 17:21 –“”That they will all be One,” we were successful in raising awareness, raising monies for Neighbors in Need, CROP walk and collecting food for Food For Lane County. We won the Golden Sneaker Award – thanks to Mary Mowday and the CROP walkers. Thanks to Brenda Kame’enui and the Mission Committee, our youth, Peggy Flinn, and all the walkers, collectors, letter writers. We made a difference locally, nationally and globally. . . .(much more) Please click to see the entire Moderator's Report. Mary Nyquist Koons, Moderator |
