That's My Farmer
An interfaith effort to support and promote local agriculture, will hold its annual kick-off event on Wednesday, April 14, 6-8:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church. This year, the event’s focus is on education. There will be workshops on topics such as Sustainable Urban Agriculture, Raising Chickens, and Orcharding, in which the farmers will share their knowledge and experiences. You can also meet some of our local farmers, to sign up for CSA’s with participating farms and to purchase Farmer Bucks to use at the Farmer’s Markets.
From the Library . . .
Sexuality and gender are things we all have to deal with every day. Do you need help with the daily issues? Stop at the library cart in the upstairs lobby (next to the fireplace) on Sunday, March 14. It will contain a sampling of the books about these issues that can be found on the east wall of our library. You may borrow the book of your choice for a month simply by signing the card in the back of the book and leaving it in the box on the library counter.
Spring Cleanup of the
Church Grounds

FCC Poetry Project
While you’re checking out the kiosk, look for the FCC Poetry Project’s envelope and take a page of poetry home. Please do! Each month there will be two new poems for you to read, ponder, and re-read, and then pass on to a friend. Poetry is a fitting companion as we “work out our salvation in fear and trembling” in this material/spiritual world. If you have suggestions for poems you’d like to share with the congregation, email them to Sara Burant at kitsatoo@hotmail.com
Focus on Stewardship
We have reached the 332 mark in our goal to receive 350 pledge commitments!
As Stewardship Co-Chair, and on behalf of our entire committee, I want to thank each of you who have responded to the campaign thus far. Your pledge commitments indicate a very positive trend of support for the ministry and programs of First Congregational Church in 2010. We are particularly encouraged by the significant number of first-time pledges.
I also take this opportunity to personally appeal to all of you who have not yet responded. Whether or not this campaign succeeds in adequately providing the financial support required to sustain our ministries depends on receiving those additional commitments and reaching our goal. If you have not already done so, please return a pledge card now.
Pledge cards are still available in the pew racks, and completed cards can be placed in the offering. Or you can call the church bookkeeper Sue Carey (541-345-8741), who will confidentially fill out a card in accordance with your instructions.

Photographs on our Church Website
The church occasionally uses photos of people and groups on the church website. Members objecting to the use of their photos (or photos of their minor children) should so inform the church office (541-345-8741). We will not be publishing the directory or phone numbers of members. Also, no last names will be used.
Automatic Pledge Payments
Our automatic pledge payments through electronic funds transfers (EFT) are working very well. If you wish to continue for your 2010 pledge, we will need to update your information. FCC bookkeeper Sue Carey will be contacting you. If you are not a current participant and wish to enroll, please call Sue (541-345-8741).
